Abstract: In this lesson, students will learn about composite materials. Students will explore tension as a force and how composite materials act on structural components through the design and testing a strip of plastic chair webbing. Learners will identify materials used to accomplish the design task based on a specific property and design and explain the purpose of a prototype to represent a solution.
