Extinction and Size

Abstract: This Why Files article investigates a possible relationship between extinction and size of animals. For most recent extinctions (50,000 and 12,000 years ago), evidence indicates that mostly large animals went extinct. The Why Files examines possible reasons for this, such as climate changes and the appearance of predatory humans, and what this tells scientists about evolution and extinctions on Earth.
