| Abstract: | To use this applet to model linear regression, the student can enter up to 50 points by clicking on a graph of the first quadrant. The applet displays a red line passing through the point representing the average x and average y values. A scroll bar is used to change the slope of the red line to approximate a line of best fit. With a button click, the applet also can display a blue line showing the calculated best fit line. The equations for the red approximate best fit line and the calculated blue best fit line are displayed along with a thermometer illustrating how well the approximate red line fits the data points.
